Dining Out

O' Bistro- Your Neighborhood Restaurant and Martini Bar

If you are in the mood for some great food, fabulous martinis or a great glass of wine O' Bistro is a great choice. The owner, Sharon O
not only runs a great restaurant but she is a true Moxy Woman.  Everyone who knows Sharon knows exactly what that means. Perhaps at a later time she will allow us to share her story.  But for now we'll just talk about food!  Whether it is breakfast, lunch or dinner- everything is fabulous!  If you want a fancy breakfast there is no place in the S.E. like O' Bistro.  From the fabulous crepes and the blissful Bananas Foster French Toast, to the selection of Eggs Benedict and omelettes, there is something for everyone. They have their own version of "grits" but these are way too fabulous to call "grits".  And yes, how about a mimosa with a juicy red strawberry, sliced perfectly and resting on the edge of a champagne glass?

Lunch?  You bet!  My favorite is their Pecan Crusted Chicken Salad with my choice of Honey Mustard Dressing.  The chicken is unbelievably tender and all of the ingredients are fresh and much of what is used at O Bistro is organic. The Roasted Prime Rib and Brie on Ciabatta sandwich is to die for!  8 ounces of slow roasted prime rib, sliced thin with caramelized onion jam and brie with a side of horseradish sauce- ok, I apologize if you are on a diet but at least once a week you can give yourself a treat, yes?

Dinner specials change nightly but there is nothing on the menu that is risky.  This is my favorite restaurant and I have been to some of the best!  When you arrive to the restaurant don't let the fact that it is located in a strip mall fool you.  As soon as you walk in the door the dining "experience" begins.

If you visit Sharon- please tell her that Moxy sent you and I am sure she will make sure you will not be disappointed.

New Restaurant!!  Emilio's

Reviewed By:  Jean Harper
It seems as though every time I go into downtown St. Petersburg these days there is a another new restaurant.  I was in for a quick lunch on a Monday before heading off to a business meeting when I passed Emilio's restaurant.........I stepped back and looked in the window and I just had to give it a try.

Emilio's is a bistro, bakery and bar that opened on July 5, 2010 in the lively Central Avenue restaurant district of downtown St. Petersburg, Florida. The menu features finely roasted espresso and other coffee drinks, an assortment of freshly baked pastries and breads,  gourmet sandwiches, homemade soups,  fresh salads, made-to-order stuffed burgers, an evening upscale bar menu and of course, fine wines and craft beers.  They are open for breakfast, lunch and dinner and they cater picnics too!!  Emilio's "picnic in the park" is delivered complete with linens, china and a bottle of wine!

Emilio’s is operated by Emilio Brandl, having recently moved from his previously successful restaurant life in Savannah, Georgia- one of my favorite cities from my home State.  Emilio serves as both head chef and baker at the restaurant, and offers up a great smile as well as incredible food.

I tried the Chicken Salad Croissant- and I don't know which I liked best; the fresh, flaky croissant or the homemade, sinfully good, chicken salad.  Did I mention the vanilla, sweet potato fries?  Be careful as they could be addictive !!

They also offer free Wi-Fi, gourmet sodas and teas, and an array of tasty treats! Everything on the menu is made fresh and the atmosphere is warm and inviting...........AND it smells great when you enter- always a good sign that the food is scrumptious.  You must give it a try!!  Check out the menu on their website at:  http://emiliosbistro.com/
