Patience and the 2012 Phenomenon

Patience and the 2012 Phenomenon
By Jean Harper

Every great dream begins with a dreamer. Always remember, you have within you the strength, the patience, and the passion to reach for the stars to change the world ~Harriet Tubman

What is patience?  Dictionaries define it as the capacity to accept or tolerate delay, trouble, or suffering without getting angry or upset. Patience is one thing, I can say, has never been one of my strongest qualities. I can also state that over the past few years it has become my biggest challenge and greatest lesson. Most of my life has been a journey from the conceptualization of a notion to its manifestation in 3D.  When I was younger it seemed easy to manifest my dreams, but in these times, it requires unadulterated “patience”. My greatest lesson, in the middle of intense, challenging, and difficult times, it becomes more vital than ever to have compassion for myself, to be gentle, tender, kind and loving toward my drained, stressed, or feeling-stuck self. I have to remind myself that we each have our own tempo with which we process crisis, heal, release, and move forward. What looks like detours, avoidance, and running away, may actually be taking the time needed to get to the next place of self-empowerment. In Time, all is shown, right? Just be patient, I remind myself.

Patience is supposed to be about dealing calmly with frustration, accepting others, taking your time, maintaining composure, allowing others to make mistakes without being judgmental and using self-control. This leads to compassion, tolerance and self-control. It is easy to write about these thoughts, yet not often easy to act on them. I can only think of a couple of people that I know who seem to have this ability. It seems to me that life is often about being in “waiting” mode ... from the beginning to the end.

What does this have to do with the 2012 phenomenon? The 2012 phenomenon involves a range of beliefs that either catastrophic or transformative events will occur on December 21, 2012. The New Age interpretation is that the date marks the start of time in which the Earth and its inhabitants may undergo a spiritual transformation. All of this talk of 2012 reminds me of my lessons with patience. If we all learn the lessons of patience and accept one another without judgment, become compassionate, tolerant and accepting by December 21, 2012, there will no longer be a need for the word “patience.”

I can wait until then!

The video below is the best one I have found to explain the 2012 phenomenon.  It is a bit blurry but worth the time to watch.
